SGTU students get First-Hand broadcasting experience at All India Radio
Gurugram: Students of the School of Emerging Media, Communication & Film Studies (SMCF), SGT University, visited All India Radio (AIR), New Delhi, as part of an industry visit and experiential learning initiative aimed at providing students with practical exposure to the professional media environment.
During the visit, students gained first-hand insights into the functioning of radio broadcasting and experienced how a radio anchor presents a live programme, how live sessions are taken on air, and how dubbing and recording are carried out in professional studios.
The students visited the Newsroom, Dubbing Studio, FM Gold and FM Rainbow studios, where they observed the various stages involved in radio production and broadcasting. They also learned about programme scheduling, production workflows and the process of taking programmes from planning and recording to final broadcast.
A special highlight of the visit was the Bapu Studio, which also has an important historical association with Mahatma Gandhi. The visit provided students with an opportunity to understand not only the technical dimensions of broadcasting but also the historical significance of radio as a medium.
The experiential visit helped students connect classroom concepts with real-world media practices and gain a deeper understanding of the roles, responsibilities and workflows involved in professional radio broadcasting.
The SMCF faculty highlighted that such industry visits are an important part of media education, enabling students to move beyond theoretical learning and engage directly with professional practices, industry environments and emerging opportunities in the media sector.
