SGTU Organizes MOOCs Awareness Workshop to Promote Digital Education
Gurugram. The Centre of Excellence for Andragogical and Pedagogical Sciences (CEAPS), SGT University, in collaboration with the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), UGC, successfully organized an online MOOCs Awareness Workshop for Academicians on 6th August 2026. The workshop aimed to familiarize faculty members with the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and encourage their active participation in India’s digital higher education initiatives.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 60 faculty members, course coordinators, and academic scholars from SGT University. The session focused on empowering academicians with an understanding of the planning, development, instructional design, and implementation of MOOCs under the Government of India’s online education initiatives.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Col. PS James, Director, CENT, who highlighted the growing significance of MOOCs in enhancing access to quality higher education, fostering flexible learning, and enabling institutions to contribute to the national digital learning ecosystem. He emphasized SGT University’s commitment to promoting innovation in teaching-learning practices and strengthening faculty capabilities in digital education.
The technical session was delivered by Dr. Chandan Gupta, Director, Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC), Indore, who served as the expert resource person. He provided a comprehensive overview of the MOOC development process, instructional design principles, content creation, production workflows, quality assurance, certification procedures, and proposal submission guidelines for faculty members interested in developing MOOCs.
The interactive session also addressed participants’ queries regarding institutional approvals, eligibility criteria, timelines for course development, and examination processes.
The workshop concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, reflecting the keen interest of faculty members in contributing to digital learning initiatives. Participants appreciated the practical insights provided during the session and expressed enthusiasm for developing MOOCs in their respective disciplines.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Astha Chaudhry, Director, CEAPS, reiterated the University’s commitment to strengthening digital pedagogy and creating opportunities for faculty to engage with national educational initiatives. She noted that such collaborations with organizations like CEC play a significant role in enhancing faculty competencies and advancing the University’s vision of academic excellence and innovation.
The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks, marking another successful faculty development initiative undertaken by CEAPS towards building a digitally empowered academic community.
