Gurugram, 18 July : In the modern era, for any civilisation to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity, it is essential to remain rooted in humanity’s core values while building upon its timeless strengths in their purest form. As India moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat, it is taking transformative strides that deserve recognition not only nationally but also on the global stage.<\/p>\n
With this spirit of nation-building, the Faculty of Dental Sciences at SGT University has launched a unique community outreach initiative titled “Rural Knowledge Literacy Campaign \u2013 Foundation of Viksit Bharat.” The programme aims to promote public awareness on everyday issues and practical solutions through meaningful interactions with rural communities.<\/p>\n
As part of the campaign, faculty members are visiting villages to engage with children, women, senior citizens, farmers, service-sector workers, and prospective students on topics of social relevance. The initiative focuses on enhancing awareness through direct dialogue and community participation.<\/p>\n
Leading the initiative, Dr. Sumit Singh Phukela, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, elaborated on the significance of the campaign. He informed that the programme commenced on July 10, and faculty teams have already visited four villages\u2014Lohat, Mankrola, Kota, and Tejnagar\u2014located in the Farrukhnagar and Gurugram tehsils of Gurugram district.<\/p>\n
During these visits, interactive sessions were conducted on digital well-being, healthy lifestyles, education and career planning, with particular emphasis on the importance of schooling, higher education, vocational training, skill development, nutrition, healthcare, and physical fitness in today’s lifestyle. The sessions were conducted in an engaging and participatory manner, enabling meaningful interaction between faculty members, students, and villagers.<\/p>\n
Dr. Phukela further noted that the faculty’s extensive preparatory work is also helping rural participants understand the various government schemes and initiatives available in these key areas, thereby enabling them to make informed decisions regarding education, health, and livelihood.<\/p>\n
Dr. Shaurya Tandon, Professor, Department of Public Health Dentistry, stated that several additional focus areas\u2014including mental health, personal hygiene, environmental awareness, women’s health, and child health\u2014are being incorporated into future village visits to facilitate more comprehensive and impactful community engagement.<\/p>\n
He further emphasized that the initiative also serves as a valuable experiential learning platform for students by exposing them to the realities of rural life. It helps them develop essential qualities such as leadership, communication, empathy, social responsibility, and real-world problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n
Dr. Tandon added that, as a socially responsible institution, SGT University remains firmly committed to nation-building by fostering an educationally and socially responsible ecosystem. Through initiatives like this, the University is actively contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.<\/p>\n
